About Us

Jem-Dor Woodcraft Limited was founded by Herman Dougherty in 1975. Herman was a believer in building quality products at affordable prices. Starting with a very small shop and armed with a few door samples Herman led Jem-Dor Woodcraft Ltd. to becoming one of the most well-known and respected manufacturers of custom kitchens in London. Upon his passing, the torch was passed to his son Ron Dougherty who had been brought up in the business. Along with his mother Sylvia, he successfully kept his father’s dreams alive and continued to grow the company’s reputation for servicing the London market with the highest quality custom cabinetry.

Early in 2012 the company was sold to Drew Pelc and Brian Lippold who also shared the same philosophy as the Dougherty family for ensuring that quality came first. Drew brought with him nearly 30 years of prior experience in the kitchen industry and knowledge that Jem-Dor Woodcraft Ltd. had a great infrastructure to build upon. All that it needed was someone with the knowledge and experience to take it to the next level. Brian shares that same vision and also brings with him his vast experience in growing smaller businesses into larger businesses. Armed with that experience, and a business degree, Brian and maintains and runs “the business end” of the business which allows Drew the freedom to focus on running the kitchen side of the business.

Although a great foundation was already in place, the company was in need of an infusion of technology in all ends of the business. Almost immediately a CNC machine was introduced into the manufacturing process. This allowed for increased flexibility and accuracy, less waste, more efficiency and a better quality of product. The 20/20 design program was introduced as was other accounting and reporting software. The changes in the first two years alone were immense. The product received many new upgrades; the finishes were reformulated to improve consistency and durability, the hinges and drawer systems were all upgraded as was the construction of the cabinetry and new showroom was also constructed.

By the beginning of 2013, the company was officially rebranded as Dynamic Kitchens by Jem-Dor. Drew and Brian felt that it was important to maintain the recognizable Jem-Dor brand, as the company continues have multiple repeat clients, it was equally as important that the name better reflect what we do and the direction we are headed. “Dynamic” speaks to being flexible, forward thinking and current. That must always stay at the forefront as the moment we cease to be dynamic, we become dated and irrelevant.

As Dynamic Kitchens we have won multiple design awards from both the St. Thomas and Elgin Home Builders Association (STEHBA) and the London Home Builders Association (LHBA), an award from the City of London “Recognizing Industry Leadership, Innovation, Economic Growth and Sustainability and Contribution to the Community”. We also won the “Best Multi-Booth” award from LHBA for our display at the Lifestyle Home Show.

With all that being said, we are nothing without our incredibly hard working and talented employees. The pride that they have in their work, and their commitment to producing quality products for our clients, is what makes Dynamic Kitchens what it is today.
